Nope, just randomly came across your blog. I taught in Japan in 2003,04. It's nice to see a glimpse into life in Japan again. JET is the way to go. I'm jealous... I worked for NOVA.
What's funny is I lived in Iizuka, too. We may have lived in the same building, actually in Grace Mansion. Just behind the Trial store. You can actually see the top of the apartments sticking out in your picture of Trial.
That's interesting about the coal mountains. I saw them everyday and never knew.
Are you planning on moving to another part of Japan? I also lived in Kobe (technically Akashi).
